Asghar Afghan<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mohamad Asghar Afghan\u00a0(Asghar Afghan \/ Asghar Stanikzai) is an Afghan former cricketer who had captained the\u00a0Afghanistan national cricket team for the longest period at international level (7Yrs) and known as the Greatest Captain of Afghanistan till now. Also When he retired, he had the most wins as a T20I captain across the world, surpassing the likes of Eoin Morgan of Engliand and MS Dhoni of India.<\/p>\n

Asghar is a right-handed\u00a0batsman<\/a>\u00a0and a\u00a0medium-fast<\/a> bowler. At first; In May 2015, he was named as the captain of Afghanistan for all formats, plus their inaugural\u00a0Test match<\/a>,\u00a0against India<\/a>.\u00a0He made his Test debut, against India, on 14 June 2018,\u00a0On 2 August 2018, he changed his last name from Stanikzai to Afghan. In April 2019, the\u00a0Afghanistan Cricket Board<\/a>\u00a0(ACB) dropped him as captain of the Afghanistan team across all three formats.\u00a0However, in December 2019, the ACB reappointed Asghar Afghan as the captain of the Afghanistan cricket team across all formats.\u00a0In March 2021, during the series\u00a0against Zimbabwe<\/a>, Afghan played in his\u00a050th T20I as Afghanistan’s captain<\/a>.\u00a0In May 2021, he was sacked as the national team captain. \u00a0In October 2021, ahead of Afghanistan’s match against\u00a0Namibia<\/a>\u00a0in the\u00a02021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup<\/a>, Afghan announced his retirement from all forms of cricket following the game.<\/p>\n

At the time of his captaincy he was the most successful T20I captain in the world by wining most matches as the captain and highest winning percentage of the wins as the captain (42 wins out of 52 matches) crossing Indian legend MS Dhoni as the captain.
