HOWARD JOHNSON
Mr. Howard Johnson migrated to the United States in 1983 and was introduced to the NewBritain Social Club by his father, Mr. Carlton Johnson, who became a member in 1969. He enrolled at the Moore School of Business for accounting and furthered his education at A.I Prince Tech, where he acquired the skills necessary to pursue a career as an electrician.
An entrepreneur, Mr. Johnson, is the owner of HJ Electrical Services and is a licensed electrician with extensive experience across the state. He has worked on major projects, including Route 9 lighting and signage in the New Britain area, as well as numerous large- scale electrical installations throughout Connecticut. His expertise has been highly sought after, particularly in his role as Chairperson of the Building Committee at the New Britain Social Club, where he successfully managed the reinforcement of the club’s roof and foundation.
Mr. Johnson has served his community with distinction as a three-term President of the New Britain Social Club, making him the longest-serving president in the organization’s history. Prior to his presidency, he held several leadership roles, including Secretary and Cricket Captain, and gained notable recognition as Business Manager, a position he held for five years. In this role, he strengthened existing relationships and forged new partnerships with social organizations in Boston, New York City, Baltimore, and Rochester. He also led a major recruitment drive that resulted in a significant increase in membership for the organization and organized bus trips that were sold out months in advance.
An accomplished cricketer, Mr. Johnson is among a select group of players in the Connecticut Cricket League to have represented the United States in matches against India. Professionally, he has continued to give back to the community, especially his contributions to New Britain’s YMCA Mosaic Project in the summer of 2012, sponsorship of junior league basketball team and the annual turkey drive with the New Britain Police Department, further extending his impact within the local area.
