
DR. ATUL RAI
Dr. Atul Rai is a long-term resident of Southern California and currently residing in Santa Barbara, California. He is in private Dental practice specializing in Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry. He is married to Veena, and they have two children and two grandchildren.
Growing up in India as a kid, Cricket was his passion. However, professional education and career took priority. After he moved to the US in the early 80’s, he continued to play Cricket in LA as a member of Southern California Cricket Association and eventually served on its Executive Board for several years including as the President for several years. In December of 2024 he was reappointed as the President of SCCA for another two years.
He was also elected to the USA Cricket Association (USACA) Executive Board in 1998 and served as its President from 2001 to 2003. During his term as the President, he started the National Junior and Youth development program and the first ever U19 nationals were held in 2002. He also started the regional and the National championships in 2001 and USA won the Americas cup for the first time in 2002.
He was elected to the newly constituted USA Cricket Board in 2018 and after his initial term, he was re-elected to USA Cricket Board in July of 2022, and he served as the Interim chair for 8 months.
Mr. Atul Rai continues to promote the game of Cricket in LA, and he started a Youth Cricket Development Board that has partnered with the City of LA and the Department of Parks and Rec, to include Cricket as part of the Play LA program, an initiative to promote Youth sports in preparation for the 2028 Olympics in LA. His dream is to make cricket a mainstream sport in America and provide an opportunity for the American kids to play the wonderful game of Cricket.
His hobbies include traveling around the country and the world and meeting new people. He is also an avid tennis player.
